Beth is on her best behavior and remains organised with the tasks that she has to accomplish. She plays the piano well and is sad about her parents being away. Amy is being taken care of by Meg, the writer of the letter. She does her hair and learns to accesorize from her older sister. Cousin Laurie watches over all four of them and keeps them laughing as the parents are away. Meg ends the letter by saying they are well and busy and anxiously wait for the parents to come back.
