January is a winter month, so it's one of the coldest months of the year. In January it usually starts to snow more heavily and people can go skiing. Temperatures are almost always below freezing point so everyone wears warm jackets, scarves and boots. Some people still keep their Christmas trees for a couple of weeks but the holidays are gone, and we are just getting started on a new year. People start to work on their resolution and may try to be healthier. On the 15th of January we celebrate Mihai Eminescu's birthday and on the 24th of January we celebrate the Great Unification.
