The pigeons helped Cinderella clean after her step sisters. In the book, there is the detail that she has to be home until 12 o'clock because then the magic will be lost. In the movie, the producer wants to show that the pigeons sit on Cinderella's dad grave. This story impressed me with it's hint of sarcasm and the presentation of the characters.
