In the 1600s a group of English people settled in Jamestown, North America. They ventured to the New World in the hope of finding pearls ,silver or gold. They were to busy dreaming of gold to think of growing food. The colonists began to die. Some died of hunger, some of disease and others in Indian attacks. Captain Jhon Smith, an energetic 27 years old solider organized the colonists forcing them to work the land. The work wasn't easy because they had to clear thick forests. Poor Smith had to watch as all his men were killed. After a short while he was shown to the Indian chief to whom he gave a round ivory double compass. When he used this to demonstrate the sky, the Sun, Moon , the stars and the roundness of the Earth, they all stood amazed.Within an hour of having tied him to a tree, the chief with the compass in his hand, told Smith of his intention to set him tree. Triumphantly a guard led Smith .to a feast. The food which was brought to him would have fed thirty men. The next morning they brought him even more food. This made Smith think they were going to fatten him up to eat him not to free him! Again they brought Smith before their chief. Powahatan sat on a high wooden seat by the fie. More than two hundred fierce-looking Indians stood staring at him, as if he were a monster.A young girl, Pocahontas, sat opposite the chief. In anii 1600 un grup de englezi s-au stabilit/ mutat in Jamestown in nordul Americii. Ei s-au aventurat in Lumea Noua in speranta de a gasi perle, argint sau aur. Ei erau foarte ocupati sa viseze la aur, decat la cresterea alimentelor. Colonistii au inceput sa moara. Unii au murit de foame, altii s-au imbolnavit si altii au murit din cauza atacurilor indienillor.
Capitanul John Smith un om energic, in varsta de 27 de ani a fortat colonistii sa-i lucreze pamantul. Munca nu era deloc usoara deoarece ei trebuiau sa curete padurile dese. Cand au ramas fara mancare, Smith a plecat in padure pentru a face rost de mancare de la indieni in schimbul armelor si tunurilor.

Erau aproape sa il bata incat sa-i scoata creierii,  Pocahontas cea mai draga fiica regelui, a fugit la Smith, i-a luat capul in brate si a pus propria viata in pericol pentru a-l salva pe Smith de la moarte. Ea considera ca oamenii pot trai impreuna chiar daca nu sunt de aceleasi culte.Legenda spune cum Pocahontas a jucat un rol important in viața colonistilor. Ea a ajutat la supravietuirea acestora. Atata timp cat ea a trait, pacea a fost pastrata intre oameni si Enzlezi.  Ei considera ca povestea capitanului smith si Printesa pocahontas se afla undeva intre mit si legenda deoarece aceasta spune o problema universala a dragostei interzisa intre membrii familiilor inamice.  Iubirea legendara a Pocahontas si capitanul Smith a fost transformata intr-un film. Pocahontas a fost un cinematograf mare a lovit la sfârșitul anilor 1990.
