As You Sow So Shall You Reap
Farmers scatter seeds for cultivation and at the right time they harvest the grain or similar crop. The good farmer pays attention to important matters like good seeds, good ground and proper manure, because he wants to gather in a good harvest. The weather is the only element, over which the farmer has no control, but regarding everything else he has control and should the harvest be poor in spite of good weather, the fault is his own. He has reaped what he has sown. Figuratively the saying means that whatever we get is the result of what we have done. When the other is studying, we are dozing and we are chagrined to find that he has done well in the examination. At the interview, he shines because he has prepared himself well for it and naturally he gets the job. He deserves it. Hence the proverb means that Man is responsible for the effect of his actions. If the action is based on goodness, it will churn out only goodness in the long run. If the action has been evil, the outcome also tends to be evil. In short goodness will always bear goodness in our life.
