This statement is true, because a teacher have the power to give  so much knowledge  while a   student can to evolve.  
The teachers are very important in our lives, because they influence us in  different ways. Not just because they already ''pass'' some lessons from life, but because they are here for us, to open our door, sometimes, and to help us with  our evolving, but isn't something so easy as it's seems.
If  you didn't  make an effort to do something  for your life, your knowledge or your evolution, even all your teachers and all the teachers   from this planet help you, you can't to progress like that.
You need to put yourself in this process of evolution and to make  an effort  if you want  that things to work for you.
Your teacher will open the door, but it's your choice if you make an effort for  enter  on that door or not. In front of  the door it's more and more, as difficult tasks, risks, stress, failures. If a teacher open a door for you, and this is your door, thanks them, because it can be the oportunity of your life.
