Naucratis or Naukratis (Greek: Ναύκρατις, "Naval Command";[1] Egyptian: Piemro) was a city of ancient Egypt, on the Canopic branch of the Nile river, and 72 km (45 mi) southeast of the open sea and Alexandria.
