In Poland, near Crackow there is a beautiful site of historic interest, the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

History

Legend has it that Blessed Kinga threw her ring in the mine, and once her missing ring was found, salt was found, too. Although from some moment on, horses were used to carry salt out, miners were still killed or injured, and later on their underground chapel was destroyed by fire.They started at that point to carve sculptures from rock salt.

Things to See

Visitors can see caves with huge salt crystals, tunnels, enormous chambers and many other extraordinary things.

You absolutelly should go and visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, if you are near Crackow. You will be amazed.
