1. Before marketing a new product, cosmetic companies must make sure that their products are safe and won't cause eye or skin irritations.
2. Cosmetics are applied to the backs of guinea pigs to see if it irritates the skin.
3. In order to try and stop animal testing, protesters are signing petitions, organizing demonstrations and buying cosmetics that are not tested on animals.
4. The new irritancy test is not cruel because they are being done on a laboratory dish rather than on anyone's eyes and they are also more accurate than the old ones.
5. In the past, animal testing helped psychologists learn a lot about human behavior, the different aspects of communication and helped with testing new medicines.
