The phrase " A people’s relationship to their heritage is the same as the relationship of a child to his mother." means that people should know their heritage and their history. Their past is in  a strong relationship with the present as long as we know our history and the past, the future will be bright.

The relationship of a child and his mother is so strong that no one can break it. While typically associated with pregnancy and childbirth, a maternal bond may also develop in cases where the child is unrelated, such as an adoption. Both physical and emotional factors influence the mother-child bonding process. The kids know that they belong to someone.

We shouldn't neglect our heritage even if the globalization and the society told us to do this way. The heritage depends it can be the heritage of a country like: traditions and customs, folk costumes and specific food, or the heritage of people by people like genetics. We should not be ever shamed about this. This makes you special and keeps us together
