A diary of hope

In September 1991,in the city of Sarajevo in Bosnia,a young girl started to write a diary.Then a war began.For two years,while people were fighting each other and her city was bombedand shelled,Zlata Filipovic wrote her thoughts in her diary.Later the diary was published by Unicef.It is called Zlata"s Diary:A Child"s Life in Sarajevo.
Before the war,Zlata's life was very pleasant.She lived with herfamily in a big,comfortable apartament in Sarajevo.She was given everything she wanted-piano lessons,tenis lessons,weekends in the country and holidays in Italy.
In the beginning,Zlata wrote in her diary about all the things a typical teenager is interested in-pop stars,super models,school grades and skiing trips.Then the war started.For the next two years Zlata wrote about the war in Bosnia.Her parents were nervous all the time,and her mother cried regularly.
On the outside,Zlata remained calm,but on the inside she was very angry.She wrote about her anger in her diary:She called the politicians 'kids'.Like children,they were playing games-not with toys,but with people's lives.

In Septembrie 1991,in orasul Sarajevo din Bosnia,o fetita. a inceput sa scrie un jurnal.Apoi a inceput un razboi.Pentru doi ani,in timp ce oamenii se bateau unii cu ceilalti si orasul era bombardat,Zlata Filipovic si-a scris gandurile pe jurnal.Mai tarziu,jurnalul a fost publicat de UNICEF.Se numeste Jurnalul lui Zlata:Viata unui copil in Sarajevo.
Inainte de razboi,viata Zlatei era foarte placuta.Traia cu familia ei intr-un apartament mare si confortabil in Sarajevo.A primit tot ce a vrut:lectii de pian,lectii de tenis,weekend-uri la tara si vacante in Italia.La inceput,Zlata a scris in jurnalul ei despre toate lucrurile de care este interesat un adolescent obisnuit:de pop star-uri,super modele,notele de la scoala si calatorii cu schiurile.Apoi a inceput razboiul.Pentru urmatorii doi ani,Zlata a scris despre razboiul din Bosnia.Parintii ei erau emotionati tot timpul,iar mama ei plangea des.
Pe din afara,Zlata a ramas calma,dar pe dinauntru,era foarte nervoasa.A scris despre supararea ei in jurnal:Ii numea pe politicieni ''copii''.Ca si copiii,se jucau jocuri-nu cu jucarii,dar cu vietile unor oameni.
