The Romanian Peasant National Museum is one of the most diverse museums in the European family of the Museums of Folk Arts and Traditions. It is located in Bucharest on 3 Kiseleff Road, near Victoriei Square. The building where the present museum is located was built between 1912 and 1941 according to the plans of the architect N. Ghica-Budesti. In 1953 it was called the Lenin-Stalin Museum, then the Party Museum, and from 5 February 1990 it was renamed in the Romanian Peasant Museum .
The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant is the continuation of the Museum of Ethnography, National Art, Decorative Art and Industrial Art established on October 1, 1906. The museum is also known as the National Ethnography and Art Museum, since 1912 the National Art Museum and later the Folk Art Museum of the Republic . In 1978, the museum merged with the Village Museum under the name of the Village and Folk Art Museum. The museum is patronized by the Ministry of Culture.
