As it looks the problem can be solved suposing , like in life, the event of the "man looking at tv" IS NOT INDEPENDENT of the event " woman is looking at TV"
Women is looking at TV at 70%..that means the chances of NOT LOOKING
are 30%
When woman is looking, the chances of the man looking are 60%...that means the chances of the MAN NOT LOOKING are 40%
We must agree (the problem don-t tell us, or YOU forgot to tell us) that the chances of the man do not looking when the wife does not look are the same as in the situation she looks- he looks, that means 40%
Than, the second event (man lookink) beeing conditioned by the first one (woman looking) the chances are
30% * 40%=12%
but the problem seems to me rather incomplete..It tells us about man watching conditioned by woman watching not also about woman watching condinioned by man watching , that means the piece of information "The chance that the man looks is 50% could not be used.
