Călimanesti is a city in Valcea County, located in the north-eastern part of Valcea County at the foot of the Cozia massif and the Căpăţii Mountains of the Meridional Carpathians, on both sides of the Olt River, at its exit from the gorge. The city is known since the Dacians, who discovered the beneficial effects of thermal waters in the area.
Around the city you can visit Cozia Monastery, Turnu Monastery, Arutela Roman castrum, the train station is built in 1899.

Călimănești este un oraș în județul Vâlcea, situat în partea de nord-est a județului Vâlcea la poalele masivului Cozia și munților Căpățânii din Carpații Meridionali, pe ambele maluri ale râului Olt, la ieșirea acestuia din defileu. Orasul este cunoscută încă din vremea dacilor, care au descoperit efectele benefice ale apelor termale din zonă.
In jurul orasului se pot vizita Mănăstirea Cozia, Mănăstirea Turnu, Castrul roman Arutela, gara este construita in 1899.
Se pot face drumeti pe munte cum ar fi spre releul de pe varful Cozia, la Cascada Lotrisor si de aici urmand indicatoarele putem ajunge in orasul Brezoi.
