In Romania the most popular mythical creature is the vampire. A vampire is a preternatural being, commonly believed to be a reanimated corpse, that is said to suck the blood of sleeping persons at night. In the 50' everyone who had a horrible appearance, was missing a finger or had appendages similar to those of an animal was believed to be a vampire. A lot of people from other coutries believe that Romania is the country where the vampires firstly appeared because of the legend of Dracula, but we think this legend was invented just to increase the number of tourists.
