In my opinion money is important because you have to buy food,pay the basic home facilities(water bill,electricity,etc) if you live in a city or rural area.But are people that live in the middle of nowhere,without electricity living happily.Money is a basic necessity for most people.You need them to live,to buy clothes,shoes,furniture for the house.Working for money is pretty difficult,but for a decent living it's worth it.
