One thing that me and all my friends have in common is that we enjoy playing computer games, as well as being part of the communities built around them.
There are many benefits to playing computer games, such as developing cognitive and logical thinking skills. Personally, I play video games in order to unwind and relax, and as a way of escapism.
Having said this, there are also many downsides, especially if we are speaking about competitive video games. I often find myself irritated and stressed out when I lose or do not achieve a certain goal. Another bad thing about video games, is that it has become a serious gambling problem for many people. With the rise of Free-2-Play games that make a profit from micro-transactions in exchange for in-game content, many people have been making increasingly unnecessary purchases, which can become a problem.
With all this in mind, it if important to understand that video games can be a great source of enjoyment and are objectively a good time, but only if people recognise the potential issues that can arise and take certain steps in order to avoid them.
