Reading a book and watching a film are very different. When you read a book, you can imagine what is going on, and use your own imagination, but when you are watching a film you cannot. Sometimes a book is made into a film.

There may be differences that you may notice if you read the book and watch the movie after. Maybe the main character looks different than you thought they would in your head, or maybe they have different mannerisms.
The director who read the book and wrote the manuscript thought it all out, and when they read the book they imagined differently than you might've.

Usually, when a book is made into a film, it is because it's very popular or well-liked, or maybe educational. There is a whole group of people working on the film and a budget, so you can expect the film adaption to be good,although that's not always the case.

When you read the book you're using your brain more and figuring things out for yourself, while when you are watching a film it's already thought out. When reading you might improve your vocabulary and your brain is more active. It's healthy to read once in a while and almost every subject in school and even at work will include some form of reading, so it's best to make it a habit while you're young.

If you're busy and want to do something while watching something, you should watch a film. But if you are at home and you're bored, go pick up a book.
