Paragraph 1: Start the letter
Thank your friend for his/her last letter.
Apologise for not writting back sooner.
Explain briefly why you haven't written.
Dear Darius,
It was a nice surprise to get your last letter in which you described Paris and its surroundings. You have recently moved there and I really didn't expect you to write to me so soon. How busy you must have been! I'm sorry I could not write you back immediately, I was studying for the highschool graduation exams and I had to focus only on them.

A fost o surpriză plăcută să primesc ultima ta scrisoare în care mi-ai descris Parisul şi împrejurimile sale. Te-ai mutat de curând acolo şi chiar nu mă aşteptasem să îmi scrii aşa de repede. Cât de ocupat trebuie să fi fost! Îmi pare rău că nu ţi-am putut răspunde imediat, am învăţat pentru examenele de absolvire a liceului şi a trebuit să mă concentrez doar pe ele.

The exams were easier than I had expected or maybe I leant too seriously, that's what I usually do, don't I? I only made a couple of mistakes in the essay at English language and I was not attentive, I forgot to insert the third argument in expressing the opinion. However, my average result is high enough to allow me to choose any university I wish. My friends and family are happy for me, and guess what! My dad bought a new computer for me, you've got to see it when you come to visit me.
Examenele au fost mai uşoare decât mă aşteptasem sau poate am învăţat cu prea multă seriozitate, aşa fac eu de obicei, nu? Am făcut doar vreo două greşeli în eseul de la limba engleză şi nu am fost atent, am uitat să introduc al treilea argument în exprimarea opiniei. Oricum, media mea este destul de mare cât să îmi permită să aleg orice facultate doresc. Prietenii şi familia mea sunt fericiţi pentru mine şi ghici ce! Tata mi-a cumpărat un calculator nou, trebuie să-l vezi când vii în vizită.
Paragraph 3: Ask for news
Ask how your friend is getting on.
Ask about friend's family and any other friends you both know.
How about you? How is life in Paris? You must be thrilled, I guess you visit all those wonderful monuments and gardens. How is your family, how do they get on with their jobs? Do you have new friends? How do you spend your free time? Oh, by the way, have you met Tim, our friend? You know he moved to Paris a year ago, maybe he helps you make new acquaintancies.
Dar tu ce mai faci? Cum e viaţa la Paris? Trebuie să fii încântat, bănuiesc că vizitezi toate acele monumente şi grădini minunate. Ce mai face familia ta, se descurcă bine la serviciu? Aveţi prieteni noi? Cum vă petreceţi timpul liber? O, apropo, te-ai întâlnit cu Tim, amicul nostru? Ştii că s-a mutat la Paris în urmă cu un an, poate te ajută să îţi faci noi cunoştinţe.
Paragraph 4: End a letter.
Say that you must end the letter and why.
Give your regards to his/her parents.
Ask him/her to write soon.
Well, Darius, I have to go now, me and some friends are going to a party tonight, so I must get ready for it. I promise I'll write a longer letter next time, to tell you about the university I am going to attend. Please tell your parents that I think of them too and that I miss all of you. Write to me soon, I am looking forward to hearing more news.

Ei bine, Daniel, trebuie să plec de-acum, eu şi câţiva prieteni mergem la o petrecere diseară, aşa că trebuie să mă pregătesc. Promit să îţi scriu o scrisoare mai lungă data viitoare, să îţi povestesc despre universitatea la care mă voi înscrie. Te rog, spune-le părinţilor tăi că mă gândesc şi la ei şi că mi-e dor de voi toţi. Scrie-mi curând, abia aştept să aflu mai multe veşti.
