1) Could you please help me with my luggage? Polite refusal: I am truly sorry but mine is already too heavy and I promised my cousin I will help her too. Perhaps this other gentleman could help you. You could try asking him. 2) Mom, could you please make me a sandwich? Polite refusal: I am really sorry but I can't help you now because I have to finish writing my report for work. 3) Could you please give me another 4 hours before handing in my assignment because I need to read it again to make sure I did everything right. Polite refusal: Sorry but I cannot do as you ask since I need to start reading them in an hour and have them ready by six o'clock so there is no time for me to wait because I have a schedule to maintain.
