This was the most important game of the season and we were losing. Our star player had been injured early on in the game and we were down by two points. The other team was playing dirty and their fans were getting rowdy. Our coach was shouting at us from the sidelines, but we couldn't hear him over the noise of the crowd.
The game was close. We were down by one point with only seconds left on the clock.
I remember feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. All of our hard work throughout the season was about to go to waste. I couldn't let that happen.
I took the ball and drove to the basket. I could hear my teammates screaming for me to shoot, but I knew I could get a layup. I went up for the shot and was fouled.
As I went to the line to shoot my free throws, I could feel the tension in the air. The whole season came down to these two shots. I took a deep breath and sank both free throws. We won the game.
