I think the culture of Great Britain is best reflected by Shakespeare's plays.

Anyone who wants to understand drama and English literature must read Shakespeare. In his plays, Shakespeare was just as critical of his homeland as he was complimentary. He managed to do it with skill and style and reflect the culture of his country in a humorous way as well. Hamlet is generally accepted as the best play. But it is a difficult play so if you’re not willing to really commit to studying it, then you won’t be able to really appreciate it. There is so much in it that you can read it over and over and still find new amazing things in it. No play has contributed as many proverbial expressions to English language as Hamlet.
