Romanian Christmas
My country celebrates Christmas on December 25, just like in most Christian countries. Many people prepare for this holiday since November when the Christmas fast begins. Fasting makes us think more often about God and His Son, focusing on being better for those around us. Acts of charity multiply during this period.
The celebration of the Nativity of the Savior begins on the evening of December 24, when groups of children go caroling to their relatives and neighbors. Many young families with small children go to church to attend Christmas concerts.
And on Christmas day, a lot of people gather at the Liturgy, at the church. The priests give sweets to the children, then everyone leaves to celebrate with the family. Young people usually visit their parents and eat together. Many traditional dishes and various cakes and cookies are prepared. Only in the evening, each family returns home.
In recent years, there have been more and more families who chose to go somewhere in the mountains or even abroad to have fun during the Christmas holidays.
In conclusion, during this time traditions abound and everyone is having a good time in the family.
