Since - folosim atunci când dorim să spunem că un lucru durează de o perioadă de timp/ că s-a început în trecut și încă persistă, nu punem accent pe durată, dar pe proces: "lucrează de la ora 10/ din anul 2001/ din luna ianuarie/ desăptămâna săptămâna trecută"

For - folosim atunci când dorim să spunem despre o perioadă fixă, la fel a unei acțiuni începute în trecut și care persistă în prezent: "de 2 ore/ de 5 luni/ de 3 ani" + expresii fixe care se folosesc cu for, ca:"for hours/ for a long time/ for ages".
