The thrower of fire





The Byzantines first used the flame thrower as a naval device, usually to fire the chapel and shells of the enemy ship.

Although handheld devices were difficult to handle and dangerous, the naval ones were much more efficient.
Based on the siphon pump concept, the flames were pumped and the flammable liquid pushed out of the tank, forcing it to pass through a flame, lighting up the spray to a lethal fire dam.
