Pantelimon is a town in Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania. The town is located on the left bank of the Colentina River, in the eastern vicinity of Bucharest, at the exit to Călărași, being a satellite town of the Capital. According to the 2011 census, Pantelimon has a population of 25,596 inhabitants. Among the cities of Ilfov county, it is the largest in area, and the second in population after Voluntari.
In the past, the city also bore the names of Obilești and Florești before establishing its current name, after the name of a monastery that owned part of the relics of Saint Pantelimon. A part of the old village was included in the municipality of Bucharest, but the rest, which became a city, continued to expand to the east.
Inhabited mostly by Romanians, with a small minority of Roma, the city is economically integrated with Bucharest, but some local companies, active especially in the food industry, also operate in it. The main historical monument and point of tourist attraction is the Cernica monastery in the southeast of the city.
