Ca şi în limba română, unde unele adjective pot deveni substantive prin articulare cu articol hotărât (ex. tricoul alb // albul ochilor), acelaşi procedeu de îmbogăţire a limbii, prin schimbarea valorii gramaticale, se observă şi în limba engleză.
