Scientific discoveries have always been known as the best that could happen for us, people. I don't agree with that.
Did you know that for making some discoveries science people have to make all kind of experiments on animals or even on people? Now you can't say anymore that you didn't know.
I can't say that there aren't some discoveries that are good for the humankind but I can say that for a big part of them we have to make too much sacrifices.
I also think that a lot of discoveries are not very useful and also that for some of them we aren't ready. For example, how would you feel to discover that aliens exist? Or that the Universe will die in 10 years?
In the 1950 when birth control pills have been discovered there were a lot of women that died because of the experiments scientists made on them without them knowing they were only experiments. Even now women are gaining weight because of them and some of them when they don't take the birth control pill anymore are getting pregnant immediately. I can't say that this thing doesn't have it good parts but I think that we could have lived without this discovery.
In my opinion the best discoveries that can be made are the cure for cancer and other disease like it, for the rest we should let the nature decide what to find out or not.
In conclusion I can say that a big part of scientific discoveries are not good for humankind and also that for some of them we aren't ready yet.
