In my opinion, you know your career is overwhelming your life when you no longer have time for your hobbies, family or friends and you are put in the situation where you have to choose between your work and your social life and mental health. You feel pressured to always finish your work or be the best in your career and you forget about the things that make you happy, or worse, you forget about the people you love and you put your work in the first place, instead of your health. You have to learn to have a balance between your career and family. You always have to have time for yourself and live your life at its fullest. Do what makes you happy, work can always wait, but your life can't.
