You are on the welfare committee of your college and have been asked by the welfare officer to write an article for the college newsletter describing the work of the committee. Read the memo from the secretary, the extract from the college prospectus, on which you have made some notes, and some of the comments made by fellow students. Then use this information to write your article. ​

To write our article, we first need to remember the steps. An article will have an introduction, a main body and a conclusion. Beside that, we can ask ourselves questions and just answer them and that’s how we’ll create a good article.

Before starting to write, let’s check the memo. In the memo we’re told by the secretary that they just want it to be known that the role of the welfare committee is to remind students that they can come up to them to talk about some problems students may have, such as emotional, health and financial problems. Plus, the article itself needs to be informative and friendly.

The extract from the college prospectus gives us some more insight into how helpful for students the welfare committee is.

Therefore, our article could look like this:  

(Introduction):

Have you heard about the Student Welfare Committee? Let me tell you all about it!

The Student Welfare Committee has been created to cater to the students’ needs. So far, it helped many students with problems regarding their health and financial problems.

(Main body):

Beside such problems, it helped greatly with their emotional problems too. If you want to contact them, you can do so for free! Your problems will remain confidential as a person who's an expert in the domain will try to help you work through them.

They are kind individuals who will listen to you. They also have a round-the-clock emergency telephone help-line for people who may be too shy to show up in person. Some people even said they were helped with information about their course work, while another one said the welfare people helped a lot when they felt homesick!

(Conclusion):

I highly suggest you to go to them with any of your problems, as they are the perfect group of people to offer help in your toughest times!
