A week ago, going to buy a loaf from the convenience store next to my house, I saw a well-dressed woman begging for money. I was puzzled: her clothes were cleaned, she had a nice bag hanging on her arm, but she was begging!
I went close to her, gave her some money and I invited her to have a coffee. She felt ashamed and she refused... I was talking to her nicely and finally I persuaded her to enter in the coffee shop for a warm coffee or hot chocolate or, maybe, a tea. We sat down at a table, and she started telling me her story. She told me about her husband, a kind man who he changed a lot in the last year. She said that the day before her husband had decided to come to Bucharest with her. He wanted to buy something. After having traveled 8 hours, they finally arrived. They took a bus, get off downtown and before entering a supermarket her husband asked her to give all her money. She did so, and he vanished. She had been waiting for him in from on the supermarket until closing time. She went, then, to the station and when she had to pay for the ticket she realized she hadn't any money in her purse. She didn't know anybody in Bucharest and she wandered on the streets all night long. Early in the morning she thought it would have been a good idea to be some money, just enough to pay her ticket and go back home.
