We were on a trip to the mountains with our teacher of English and we really enjoyed every moment of freedom. We used to walk to the higher mountain peaks during the day and we returned to the hotel in the evening and had a nice party.
Well, one evening, the teacher told us, "Let's have a party at the lake near the hotel." Of course, we all agreed happily. The boys wanted to sail with the boats and unfortunately I didn't move quickly enough to get my place in any boat. I was a bit sad, but I said to myself that I could sail the next day.
While I was standing on the grass by the lake with our teacher and some other mates by the lake, I suddenly heard a desperate scream, then more ... One of my friends lost control of the boat, knocked against another boat and they were all swimming to the shore.
They were all safe now, although they were wet and cold and frightened. The next day they had to take pills for pneumonia and they were sent home. I was not sorry anymore that I couldn't find a place in the boat that evening. I didn't realise at the time, but it was the best thing that ever happened to me!
