Turkey-Tourist Objectives

Mount Nemur

Nemrut is a 2134-meter high mountain, located in the southeastern part of Turkey, near the city of Adiyaman. In 62 BC, King Antioch I Theos of Commagene built a tomb here flanked by gigantic statues depicting him, two lions, two eagles and numerous Greek and Persian deities. After its construction, the heads of the statues fell off their bodies and are scattered throughout the area. From the top of Mount Nemrut you can admire the entire view of the surrounding mountains, and the main attraction is the sunset that can be seen from the eastern terrace. From here, the heads of the statues acquire orange shades, which increases the mystery of these places.

The Blue Mosque

With its six minarets and impressive architecture, Sultan Ahmed or the Blue Mosque, offers you some truly unique views. Still used as a mosque, it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Istanbul. The mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 and, as in the case of many other constructions of this kind, it also houses the tomb of the one who built it. The high ceiling is made up of 20,000 blue tiles, with different designs, hence the mosque's popular name.

Library of Celsus in Ephesus

The ruins of Ephesus are a popular tourist attraction on the west coast of Turkey. The city of Ephesus was once famous for the Temple of the goddess Artemis, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, destroyed following an attack led by the archbishop of Constantinople in 402 CE. However, some of its structures can still be seen, including the Great Theater and the Library of Celsus. The library was built around 125 CE, in order to keep 12,000 papyri and to serve as a tomb for Celsus, the governor of Asia. The facade was carefully rebuilt in 1970, currently being in excellent condition and preserving most of the original parts.
