Students had to call teachers "Sir" or "Madam". . Students had to use their right hand at all times for writing. • Students must not ask questions. • Teachers punished the students who talked or fidgeted during classes. Teachers used a cane or a ruler to hit the students across the hand. There were 70 or 80 students in the classroom. Students mainly studied the three Rs: reading, writing and arithmetic.
