Located in Italy, in an indefinite time, Pinocchio's story describes the adventures of a dreamy wooden doll fleeing from home, engaging in a series of exciting adventures before deciding to become good, hoping it will turn in a real boy. Written by Carlo Collodi, a pseudonym for Carlo Lorenzini, the story appeared in the series before being published as "Pinocchio's Adventures" in 1883. In 1940 he inspired a cartoon film by Walt Disney.
Geppetto's love for Pinocchio
Geppetto is given a piece of wood that talks and crys like a child. He carries it in the form of a puppet called Pinocchio. Pinocchio knocks Geppetto over his nose, and runs away from home, being trapped by a policeman who frees him, but throws Geppetto in jail instead. Only in Geppetto's home, Pinocchio is advised by a speech clerk to remember his father's wisdom and strive to learn, otherwise he is riddled with many dangers and misconceptions. Pinocchio hits him with a wooden hammer, seeming to kill his cricket. Infuriated and overwhelmed by poverty, Pinocchio puts his feet in the fire to warm himself up. He wakes up when Geppetto returns home, but discovers that his legs have burned. Geppetto carves another legs and gives him three pears he had brought in his pocket at home. She dresses up Pinocchio and sells her own cape to buy her a schoolboy.
