Povestea tragică a Annei Frank e bine cunoscută. Împreună cu familia ei şi alţi cunoscuţi evrei, Anne a stat ascunsă timp de doi ani (6 iulie 1942–4 august 1944), de teama deportării în lagăr, în aşa-numita Anexă a sediului firmei patronate de tatăl său, în Amsterdamul ocupat de germani. Avea 13 ani când a intrat în Anexă. A ţinut aici un jurnal (început anterior, în 12 iunie 1942), devenind la un moment dat conştientă că el va reprezenta un document important după ce războiul se va sfârşi. În 4 august 1944, aşadar nu mult după debarcarea Aliaţilor în Normandia, când finalul recluziunii părea foarte aproape, Anne şi ceilalţi şapte locatari ai Anexei sunt arestaţi şi mai târziu deportaţi cu ultimul transport spre Auschwitz. Cu excepţia lui Otto Frank, toți vor muri. Anne şi sora ei se sting de tifos la Bergen-Belsen în februarie sau martie 1945. Eliberat din lagărul de la Auschwitz, tatăl Annei va publica şi va face cunoscut în toată lumea jurnalul fiicei sale.

Contrar aparentelor, "Jurnalul Annei Frank nu este o carte despre ororile razboiului. Ma asteptam sa citesc relatari triste despre suferintele evreilor, despre crimele infaptuite impotriva lor, insa aceasta carte e mai trista de atat. Si stiti de ce? Fiindca e despre aripi frante. Despre visuri care nu au apucat sa se implineasca.





Anne Frank, o adolescenta, se hotaraste sa inceapa un jurnal, imediat dupa ziua ei, in anul 1942. In jurnal, ea va nota ganduri, impresii despre cei din jur, franturi de imagini ale razboiului. Am ramas surprinsa de maturitatea in gandire a Annei, de felul in care vede lumea. E in acelasi timp copila si viitoare femeie, cele doua personalitati gasindu-si salas in mintea ei si contopindu-se fara a se exclude. Ce diferita era fata de adolescentii zilelor noastre!

In jurnalul ei, Anne isi desarta traista cu ganduri si opinii, fara teama, caci hartia are mai multa rabdare decat oamenii, dupa cum spune ea. In anexa unde e nevoita sa stea cu familia ei si alti cunoscuti, Anne incearca sa se adapteze desi duce dorul libertatii, al vietii fara griji de dinainte de razboi. Am putut doar sa imi imaginez cat de apasator trebuie sa fie sa nu poti sa razi din tot sufletul, cu gura deschisa, lasand sa iti curga hohotele purificatoare ale rasului. O bucurie simpla pentru noi, dar un lucru imposibil pentru cei din Anexa. Nu pot sa fie descoperiti sub nicio forma si sunt nevoiti sa isi traiasca viata cu sonorul dat la minim.

M-a impresionat felul in care Anne vede razboiul - nu lasa teama sa puna stapanire pe ea si prezinta faptele obiectiv, cu o oarecare neimplicare pe care si-a impus-o singura fiindca daca ar fi cazut prada disperarii, nu i-ar mai fi ramas nimic. In Anexa, Anne continua sa isi faca planuri, sa viseze la o cariera in jurnalism, sau poate chiar o scriitoare de succes.

The tragic story of Anne Frank is well known. In Annex, Anne continues to make plans, dream of a career in journalism or even a writer.
