I never argued with my family when it comes to my relationships and who I date. That is just in my case, I think nobody should share that with your family if you know they are going to tell you that you are not dating someone who is not good enough for you or that she/he is a bad person. In my opinion you should follow your heart. But you have to follow some standards or it won't work out or even worse.

As for the second question, I usually don't get in contact with the family of my partener or my friend. Is just the way I am. I am based on interests. I don't care of anything and the people I talk to understand that so they don't try to make me meet their families.
