I like my town. Many people, when asked about their town will start telling you about museums and institutions and ruins or cathedrals, but I want to talk about more important than that: the people.

There is Mr. Mayor who is a figure: he is quite short and has a red, round face, with the bluest eyes I have ever seen in my life. He is also bold and his head shines almost every time. The handkerchief he uses almost ceaseless cannot help much. But he is a jovial person, he likes to listen, and I mean really listens, to everyone he is talking to. People have voted him for the third time now. I think he’s going to be our mayor until his end.

But the mayor’s wife, Mrs. Mayor, she’s the opposite: tall, blonde, brown eyes, voluble, always willing to help. She is a teacher at our High school and no one can ever tell a single bad word about her. Men admire her and women want to be like her. She is well loved wherever she goes, me included.

People are pleasant in our little town. My parents always tell me they feel blessed living here after coming from a big city. Quiet streets, flowering gardens, green parks complete the scene.

So, you see, the town is about the people as well as about the walls.
