Uniform are a divisive topic. There are good arguments on both sides. My personal opinion is that uniforms should be work by children in school up until 18 years. After turning 18 , they may choose whatever garb suits them.
Uniforms do a great job uniforming the mass of students. Sometimes there will be wealthier students willing to show off their clothes. And the school is not really a fashion house. It is mainly an institution responsible with giving the kids basic life skills and knowledge.
When a uniform is instated, a greater feeling of belonging to a bigger thing comes with it. It is all well if it isn't associated with any arrogance.
Sure, the initial cost of the uniform may be high, but the image benefit for the school will be sizable. Children will be responsible, because people will associate them with their school so they wouldn't want to create a bad image for the institution.
