Sam sat on the beach looking out the horizon. A tear escaped and slid down his cheek. It just wasn't fair! He took a fistful of sand in his hand, now sobbing quitely as the sea's waves crashed against the shore. If he could've moved just a little bit faster, maybe he could've saw his brother one last time.
It all happened to fast...! When he got a call from his mother, desperately crying as she muttered the following words: 'Jason is hospitalized. Please hurry.' And that was it. His phone hit the ground, as his world began to spin. In a split second, he put his coat on and grabbed his keys, leaving his apartment.
Before he could reach the hospital, Jason was pronounced dead. How? Why? Were the questions that clouded his head, mocking him as his knees gave up, as he screamed at the top of his lungs: 'Why him?! Why not me?'
Now the sea was his only consolation. He bitterly remembered how Jason loved the beach. How they used to play in hot summer days in the warm water, not caring about the world, as they were simply enjoying every single moment spent together. But now, Jason was gone, and he'll soon be just a fading memory buried deep in his mind and heart.
'No', he suddenly said. 'I will always remember you, Jay. You will not be forgotten. I love you, brother.' And with that, he let go of the sand he was still holding, smiling mournfully. The sea continued roaring against the shore, as Sam was now getting up, returning to his family.
