Samantha sat on the porch, staring out at the empty street. She knew they weren't coming back. Her parents had left that morning to go to the grocery store, but they never returned. She didn't know what had happened to them, but she was scared and alone.
The power had been out for three days now, and the food in the house was running low. Samantha tried to stay strong, but she couldn't help but cry. She missed her parents and wished they were there to hug her and tell her everything would be okay.
She decided to go out and look for them. She put on her coat and shoes and grabbed a flashlight from the kitchen. She stepped outside, the cold air biting at her face. She shone the flashlight down the street, but she didn't see anyone. She called out for her parents, but there was no response.
Samantha walked for hours, but she still couldn't find them. She was tired and hungry, and her feet ached. She knew she had to go back home, but she didn't want to be alone anymore.
As she made her way back to the house, she saw a car approaching. She waved her flashlight and ran towards it, hoping it was her parents. But as the car came closer, she realized it was a stranger. The driver rolled down the window and asked if she was okay.
Samantha didn't know what to say. She was scared and confused. She didn't want to leave her house, but she also didn't want to be alone. She knew they weren't coming back.
