I came home last night. It was late and dark. I hung my coat on the rack and put my keys on the table. I felt really tired after a long night's shift at the office. The constant ticking of the clock's hands were burning deeper into my brain. There was nothing to eat, I must have forgotten to do grocery shopping last night. I ate the cold pizza leftovers from yesterday's lunch. Suddenly, I heard a noise from outside, that scared me quite a bit. I remained calm and cautious. I twisted the door's knob slowly to investigate the noises. A dark silouette was standing by the trash cans. I felt my heart pounding harder and harder. Thankfully, the light of the street lights illuminated the dark shadow and revealed that it was only a racoon. I felt a sudden relief, and I went back into my house and sat down at the table. The newspaper's top headline quoted: "Burglar on the loose!". That couldn't be good.
