Verbele auxiliare si modale formeaza negativ prin adaugarea negatiei "not"

Exemple:
I am not your teacher.
Your have not traveled to foreign countries.
She cannot write her name.
He may not go out and play.
We must not cross the street on the red light.

Restul verbelor formeaza negativ cu ajutorul lui "to do" care primeste negatia "not".

I don not go to the theater.
You do not do your homework.
He does not read very well.
She does not drink her milk.
We do not play tennis.
You do not build a house.
They do not see anything on the blackboard.

Atentie! Intr-o propozitie in engleza exista o singura negatie (un singur cuvant negativ).

I have not ever seen such a stubborn girl.
I have never seen such a nice cat.
They do not eat anything at lunch.
They eat nothing at lunch.
