"Home Alone" is my favourite Christmas movie because I have been watching it every year since early childhood and it always cheers up the atmosphere around Christmas. The first movie was released in 1989 and soon after it was followed by a second one (sequel) called "Lost in New York".
I absolutely love how Kevin, a really smart kid, manages to fool two not very smart thieves. The way he plans traps which the two conmen fall into is actually really funny and makes me and my family laugh our hearts out every time we watch it.
In the first movie, he is left alone at home when his family goes on vacation without him. Because he is a part of a very large family with many brothers and sisters, in the frenzy of getting ready to leave for the airport, they manage to forget Kevin at home. By the time they arrived at their destination, the parents realise that their child was left behind.
His mother then tries to get back but all the planes are booked because it was around Christmas which is a busy time of the year for airports. She then tries to find a car so that she can return home as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Kevin, being the resourceful kid he is, actually feels very good at home because his wish of not having to deal with his older brother Buzz, had finally been granted. After two days, though, he is beginning to miss his family and is sad that he has to spend Christmas alone.
In the end, they all reunite and this adventure ends well for everyone, with the thieves back in jail.
I can't wait to see this movie around Christmas again this year because it wouldn't feel like the holidays without "Home Alone"
