Exercise 10:

P: What were you doing when you saw the accident, madam?

H: I was walking down the street.

P: What exactly did you see?

H: Well, the driver of the car was driving down the road when suddenly the old man just stepped in front of him! It was terrible!

P: Was the driver speeding?

H: No, not really, but the old man didn't look both ways before he tried to cross the road.

P: Did anyone else see the accident?

H: Yes, the lady in the post office.

P: Thank you very much.

Exercise 11:

B: George picked up his bag then, threw it over his shoulder. It was getting dark and he had a long way to go. He wished that he had let someone know that he was coming. It started to rain, and he was feeling cold and tired from the long journey. Suddenly, he heard a noise, then he saw two bright lights on the road ahead. A car was heading towards him. It slowed down and finally stopped beside him. A man was sitting at the wheel. He opened the door quickly and said “Get in, George”.

C: Andy stepped into the house and closed the door behind him. Everything was quiet. His heart was beating fast and his hands were shaking as he crept silently into the empty house, but he was trying not to panic. He soon found what he was looking for. He smiled with relief as he put on the clothes. The men who was following him would never recognise him now.
